Dual Shades

Duolite® Dual Shades

  • Two Window Shades in One Headrail

  • Light Filtering to Room Darkening

Night & Day Decor presents two shades at the same window. The Duolite feature of Hunter Douglas Dual Shades provides two window shades on a shared headrail. The system allows the two shades to operate independent of one another while getting the widest range of light control. One shade is often sheer or light filtering, while the other is made of room darkening or blackout fabric.

There are three variations of Duolite products.

Roller Shades feature a front, light filtering shade with a secondary blackout roller shade. This type of dual roller system can include Silhouette Shades, Designer Roller Shades, Designer Solar Shades and Vignette Modern Roman Shades.

Honeycomb Shades offer a two part shade system. The two shades adjust up and down the window, providing light filtering and room darkening. This includes Duette Honeycomb Shades and Applause Honeycomb Shades.

Woven Wood Shades now have an exclusive dual shade system. Enjoy the beauty of a light filtering bamboo shade in front, while a room darkening, energy efficient honeycomb shade.

Honeycomb Dual Shades

Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades offer their own version of Duolite. Two portions of cellular shade are joined in the middle. The top portion is typically made of sheer or light filtering fabrics, while the bottom fabric portion is considered room darkening or blackout. Cover the window entirely with the top shade or the bottom shade. Or, adjust them to share the window for a balance of lighting and privacy.

Secondary Roller Shade

The most well-known version of dual shades offers two shades on one headrail. The front shade is comprised of sheer or light filtering fabric, often considered the “decorative” shade that faces the room. The second shade lowers in place behind the first, meant to add darkness and privacy. This secondary blackout shade can lower all the way down, or simply part of the way to block some of the light.

Honeycomb Shade with Woven Wood Shades

In an exciting innovation, the Provenance collection of woven wood shades can now feature a secondary cellular shade that lowers down behind the beautiful woven front shade. This secondary shade is designed to block light and heat, with results in comfort and cost savings. The two shades use the same headrail, and both can raise up and out of the way.
