Dual Shades

Duolite® Dual Shades

  • Two Window Shades in One Headrail

  • Light Filtering to Room Darkening

Night & Day Decor presents two shades at the same window. The Duolite feature of Hunter Douglas Dual Shades provides two window shades on a shared headrail. The system allows the two shades to operate independent of one another while getting the widest range of light control, with one shade considered light filtering and the other room darkening.

There are three variations of Duolite products.

Rolling Shades feature a front, light filtering shade with a secondary blackout roller shade. This includes Silhouette Shades, Designer Roller Shades, Designer Solar Shades and Vignette Modern Roman Shades.

Honeycomb Shades offer a two part shade system. The two shades adjust up and down the window, providing light filtering and room darkening. This includes Duette Honeycomb Shades and Applause Honeycomb Shades.

The third type of dual shade system is exclusive to Provenance Woven Woods. Enjoy the beauty of a light filtering bamboo shade in front, while a room darkening, energy efficient honeycomb shade.

Honeycomb Dual Shades

A dual shade system exclusive to Hunter Douglas cellular shades, two shades are joined in the middle. The top shade is considered light filtering, while the bottom shade is typically room darkening. The window can be covered completely with the light filtering shade, or the sun can be completely blocked with the just the room darkening portion. For a balance of lighting, the shades can be adjusted to feature light filtering on the top of the window and room darkening at the bottom. This is similar to a top down feature, controlling the amount of light and views available.

Secondary Roller Shade

Well-known for homeowners searching for dual shades, this version features two shades that share one headrail. This consists of two individual shades: a front light-filtering (or view-through shade) and a secondary blackout roller shade behind. While both shades can simultaneously be rolled into the headrail, many homeowners love to keep the front shade lowered into place all the time. The secondary blackout roller shade adjusts down into position to control the light–either part way down, or all of the way down.

Honeycomb Shade with Wovens

An exclusive dual shade feature, our Hunter Douglas woven shades can now be outfitted with a secondary cellular shade. The Provenance Woven Wood collection is very popular for its beautiful woven textured fabrics and color schemes. Natural fibers easily filter entering light for dramatic beauty. The popularity of this window covering product is only limited when clients also want room darkening and energy efficiency. Now, it’s available! The secondary honeycomb shade can lower into place when lighting and temperature needs to be controlled more.
